Commercial Painter

Benise-Dowling National Painting & Powder Coating has 7 positions available for career minded professional painters. Two years minimum experience with transportation will be required. Drug testing and federal background check will be required as part of the interview process. Starting pay ranges between $12- $20 per hour  (depending on experience) with a great corporate benefits package (medical insurance, paid vacations, vested profit sharing, and incentives for foreman who manage individual projects successful ROI.) Foreman

job description

This individual will plan and schedule work for the group, ensuring proper distribution of assignments. This individual will also estimate time, cost and determine sequences of painting operations and methods to be used to include scaffolding and rigging. This individual will inspect completed work for compliance with blueprints, specifications and instructions; will direct any rework or modification and conduct periodic inspections to determine painting needs. Assignments are received in the form of brief written work orders and must frequently be supplemented by consultation with office personnel. Work is performed under general direction of our field manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervises skilled painters in shop and outside work; assigns subordinate painters to work details, and inspects work in progress and upon completion to ensure that it meets required standards.

Supervises and inspects surfaces for cleanliness and readiness for painting; inspects equipment; buildings, or other structures reported to be in need of painting.

Maintains records and reports of material, labor, and time costs. Requisitions supplies and equipment; maintains check on material requirements; estimates man hours and amounts of material necessary; maintains records and submits reports.

Performs related work as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Graduation from a standard high school or vocational school with 5 years of related experience and experience as a journeyman painter, and some experience in supervisory and cost estimating work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Considerable knowledge of the standard practices, materials, methods, and equipment of the painting trade necessary to execute a “best in class” painting project.

Considerable knowledge of the qualities and adaptabilities of various surfacing materials, of the methods or preparing surfaces for finishing, and of the weather and wear resistance qualities of paints and other finishing materials.

Considerable knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the work.

Ability to successfully administer various large and small contacts.

Ability to plan, lay out, assign, and supervise the work of journeymen painters and helpers.

Ability to make estimates for materials and time requirements and to prepare reports.

Skill in applying paints and other finishes by brush and spray equipment.
